Waldorf-Astoria launches beekeeping on roof with 48,000 honeybees
The Waldorf-Astoria’s newest guests are real honeys.
The ritzy hotel known for hosting heads of state and celebs is now home to 48,000 honeybees — which will check into six hives on the 20th-floor rooftop.
“This is as fresh as it gets!” said chef Gerron Douglas, who will use the honey in the hotel restaurant and package it as guest-room gifts.
Chief beekeeper Andrew Cote arrived yesterday in a black limousine with crates of the bug-eyed celebs, which came from Otter Creek, Pa.
Staff will provide tours and some guest rooms will offer views of the hives.

The Park Avenue hotel is the latest to jump into urban apiaries. Around the corner, the InterContinental boasts four colonies on a roof garden.
